Description: Atlantic Ocean and Antarctica,looking west,as photographed from the Apollo 4 (Spacecraft 017/Saturn 501) unmanned,earth-orbital space mission.The camera system was activated by a gravity switch set for G=3. It is possible that it was activated by the initial vibration at lift-off. Therefore times and altitudes are approximate but within one minute of true. Photo was taken during the third revolution. Film type was SO-368 Ektachrome,70mm color,76mm lens. G.E.T time was 6:38,Altitude was 8728 nautical miles (16,163 kilometers). Every tenth photographic is indicated. Intermediate exposures can be interpolated.
