Anniston, Ala., Aug. 23, 2013 -- A Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) member intubates a patient simulator during a training exercise at FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). A DMAT is a group of professional medical personnel, supported by logistics and administrative teams. They are designed to provide medical care during a disaster or other event in support of state and local healthcare agencies. DMATs deploy to disaster sites with sufficient supplies and equipment to sustain themselves for a period of 72 hours while providing medical care at a fixed or temporary medical site.
