ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 17, 2015) An F/A-18C Hornet, assigned to the "Rampagers" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 83, launches from the flight deck of aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Harry S. Truman Strike Group is deployed to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation. In the United States Navy, these consist of ships commissioned with hull classification symbols CV (aircraft carrier), CVA (attack aircraft carrier), CVB (large aircraft carrier), CVL (light aircraft carrier), CVN (aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion) and CVAN (attack aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion). The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
