Ambassador Barry B. White, U.S. ambassador to Norway watches as a Norwegian officer cranks up a 7-ton to illustrate how any of the vehicles can be requested and driven right out of the cave, onto a plane, train or ship. The 7-ton is currently housed in the Frigard Cave, located on the Vaernes Garrison near Trondheim, Norway. The ambassador was part of a tour comprised of service members from U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command, Marine Forces Europe and Marine Forces Africa. The trip was to give a firsthand look at the capabilities of the Marine Corps Pre-positioning Program - Norway. The MCPP-N facility is made up of more than 900,000 sq. ft. of climate-controlled storage with enough shelter, food and equipment to supply 13,000 Marines for up to 30 days.
