Altman Farm, Scale House, East side of Buckely Road, 0.5 mile south of Seventy-second Avenue, Denver, Denver County, CO

description

Summary

Significance: The Altman Farm is a significant example of early 1900s rural adaptations to the evolving economic needs and changing methods of livestock husbandry. The major farm outbuilding, the barn, offers an important example of the adaptive nature of area farmers and farm managers in the remodelling of a livestock barn into both a livestock barn and a feed mill for the nearby, associated feed lots. The farm also illustrates the work process and flow of a cattle feeding and care operation.
