A U.S. service member of the Khowst Provincial Reconstruction Team greets children arriving to a medical screening outreach mission in Khoni Kawr, Khowst province, Afghanistan, Sept. 5. The event was made possible by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan which partnered doctors from its Ministry of Health with medical specialists from the Khowst PRT. The goal was to check for minor illnesses, which if left undetected or untreated might provide future complications.
