A Tinian resident performs CPR on a dummy for a combat lifesaving class during Valiant Shield 16 at Northern Marianas College, Tinian, Sept. 15, 2016. The course consisted of a classroom discussion and practical applications that helped better prepare the locals to respond to a natural disaster or a basic trauma event. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps exercise held in Guam, focusing on real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces at sea, in the air, on land and in cyberspace.
