Summary
This map shows British and American positions before Baltimore during the British attack of September 12-14. It includes the positions of Brigadier General John Stricker's Maryland forces consisting of Captain William B. Dyer's riflemen, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Sterett's Fifth Baltimore Regiment, Lt. Colonel William McDonald's Sixth Regiment, Lt. Col. Kennedy' Long's Twenty-seventh Regiment, Lt. Col. Benjamin Fowler's Thirty-ninth Regiment, and Lt. Col. Henry Amey's Fifty-first Regiment. It also shows Forts McHenry, Wood, and Covington; Battery Babcock; and other batteries on Hamstead Hill, at Spring Gardens, and near the Lazaretto. Obstructions to British navigation of the Patapsco River are also indicated. The map includes annotations and inset map of road from Elkridge to Baltimore at a scale of 1 inch to 1/2 mile.
