A Race of Strong Backs. An Albanian peasant woman photographed while carrying two hundred pounds on a tramp of twenty miles. With no transportation facilities except a few burros and horses, the Albanian women developed remarkable strength in shouldering heavy loads. The war has sapped much of the vitality of the women, however, and the American Red Cross hospitals have many cases of women breaking down under the strain of continued hard work of this character
