A Fijian Soldier climbs up a tree to get coconuts, July 15, 2016, during jungle survival training, at Ovalau, Fiji, as part of a multi-national, bilateral training exercise between the U.S. and Fiji. During the survival training, U.S. Marines, with Task Force Koa Moana, and Fijian Soldiers were separated from their platoon’s and were forced to search for food, water and shelter to survive for more than 24 hours. During the exercise, the service members conducted patrol base operation, jungle survival and live-fire range training to increase interoperability and relations. The Marines with the task force are originally assigned to I and III Marine Expeditionary Force. The Soldiers are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Fiji Infantry Regiment, Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
