Three of the US Navy’s Enlisted Aviation Pilots are (left to right) Aviation Electronicsman First Class Ted Rivenberge; Chief Aviation Machinist Mate Joseph Richards; and Aviation Controlman First Class Walter E. Coupe. The versatile petty officers are typical of the hundreds of enlisted pilots who wear the Navy’s gold flight wings. Flying, however, is a secondary duty for the men.
