3200 Block Diamond Street (Houses & Storefront), North side, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA
Summary
Significance: The 3200 block of Diamond Street is representative of the high quality residential construction along that premier thoroughfare near the end of its development stage. Fashionable ashlar-coursed brownstone fronts set these dwellings apart from others along Diamond Street and their dimensions are considerably more generous than the houses on adjacent side streets. Beyond dimension and façade cladding, however, these residences adhere to conventions of urban housing in late-nineteenth-century Philadelphia: flat fronts, three-stories, rear ells, and corner units emphasized by turrets.
