190628-N-NU281-1453 SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN (June 28, 2019) Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 2nd Class Wilmar Macadangdang helps prepare the exterior of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) for a photo exercise (PHOTOEX) with partnering navies during UNITAS LX. Michael Murphy is participating in UNITAS LX in Valparaiso, Chile, from June 24-July 3. UNITAS, Latin for "unity," is the world's longest-running multinational maritime exercise. Conceived in 1959 and first executed in 1960, UNITAS is a demonstration of U.S. commitment to the region and the strong relationships forged between our partner nations and their militaries.
