FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS(Oct. 30, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Jalen McGraw, from Jefferson, Wis., logs course and speed changes in the pilot house of the guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87). McGraw works as a quartermaster aboard Mason and is responsible for the ship’s safe navigation. Mason, deployed as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, is supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
