Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (1867—1946) was a French fashion designer and the founder of the Lanvin fashion house. She was born in Paris, France and began her career as a milliner, creating hats for her friends and family. In 1889, she opened her own boutique on Rue Boissy d'Anglas, where she sold her millinery creations. Lanvin expanded her business to include children's clothing in 1908, after the birth of her daughter, Marguerite. Her designs were known for their delicate embroidery, fine fabrics, and attention to detail. Lanvin's business grew rapidly and she opened more boutiques in Paris, as well as branches in Deauville, Biarritz, and Cannes. In the 1920s, Lanvin's fashion empire continued to grow, and she expanded into women's clothing, perfume, and home décor. Her designs were known for their elegance and sophistication, and were favored by many high-profile clients, including the Duchess of Windsor and the Queen of Romania. Jeanne Lanvin passed away in 1946, but her fashion house continued under the direction of her daughter and later, her granddaughter. Today, Lanvin is still considered one of the most influential fashion houses in the world, known for its timeless elegance and impeccable craftsmanship.
