Significance: It served as the major manufacturing and assembly plant for the Dodge automobile and is the last large reinforced concrete automobile plant left in the Detroit area. The Dodge factory led to the growth of the community of Hamtramck.

1900 als Dodge Brothers Company von den Brüdern Horace Elgin Dodge und John Francis Dodge gegründet, war Dodge ursprünglich Zulieferer von Teilen und Baugruppen für Autohersteller aus Detroit und begann 1915 mit dem Bau kompletter Automobile, noch vor der Gründung der Chrysler Corporation.
