uit the solenoid behaves )iartly like a magnet and partly like an induction coil. When a body is placed within the cylinder of the spiral through which a current is jiassingthe action depends on the quality, character, and amount of current, and on the relation ofthe windings to the current but when constructed for medical work the body in the solenoidis acted on by induced-magnetic lines of force, which have nearly the effects of general staticelectrification when the patient simply sits on an insulated jilatform connected with one poleof the Static machine. It is essentially a general tonic nutritional influence uiion the phys-iological processes of the system. The use of the solenoid is but one of four chief ways oftreating patients with what is called High-Frequency electricity. To )iossess theraiieuticenergy the exciting current must have the requisite qualities, and other degrees of currentwoulrl be inefficient. This explanation should make the matter plain to the average reader.
